I found this last night while scrolling thru Pinterest and while trying to distract myself from a nail-biter Bronco game lol….but I just had to use it for a #fitFriday post!
A lot of memes may sound and be cliche…..but I for one still love them and no matter how cliche they may be, sometimes the right one just hits you at the right time.
I’ve gotten caught up in the trap of “not ready” or “just not the right timing” over and over again. I’ve spent my life comfortable. I’ve settled. I didn’t think I was strong enough or had enough inside me to change my life.
But, when I started coaching, I finally realized that there will NEVER be the “right time.” You will NEVER feel like you are 100% READY for a change of any kind. Why? Because even if you know a change is necessary, change is HARD. We by nature like being comfortable. We don’t like being pushed outside our comfort zones. Why do you think the term “comfort zone” even exists?!?
I think the only way we’re ever “ready” is when we finally decide the pain of staying the same is far greater than the pain of change. When we finally get comfortable with being….uncomfortable. I actually love the word “unsettled” instead of uncomfortable.
I first heard the word unsettled by Lysa Terkeurst. You can read it here. It changed so much for me.
And, I talked about the pain of change in a blog post earlier this week and I often think of what truly being unsettled means.
For me, it means being willing to change…..welcoming change. Being the type of person who is constantly wanting to grow and evolve and take risks. Where there is no risk, there is no reward.
There will always be an upcoming trip or vacation, a long weekend, SUMMER or invitations of nights out with friends. Don’t wait to make a change “until…..”
There will always be food temptations in the break room or a vending machine or lunches out with coworkers or drive-thru for something quick if you work in a 9to5 setting. Don’t wait to change a learned behavior if those things are wreaking havoc with your goals.
There will always be good choices and not-so-good choices on the menu when you eat out with your family and friends. Don’t not go do things….just make better choices when you’re out.
There may be relationships you stay in or friends you keep even though it may not be the best for you because it’s comfortable and familiar. Take a look at who you surround yourself with. They say you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose your 5 carefully and if someone doesn’t fit your passion and doesn’t love and support you for who you are….well, you know what to do.
There may be a job that pays the bills but doesn’t feed your soul. Don’t be afraid to chase and do what you love! I read something this week that said to find something you love to do and then find a way to get paid to do it. So simple. Yes, most would say SO risky. Remember, where there is no risk, there is no reward.
Ok, I’ll get off my soap box now lol!
And, on that note, if you’ve been looking to make just a change in your fitness routine or get back into fitness, I have something short, sweet and fun for you! A 3-DAY FREE fitness challenge. Yes, 3 days. If you’re interested, click on the image below! We start Monday in a private Facebook group!
You don’t have to start big to change….you just have to start 🙂 And, it may sound simple to you but I truly believe that fitness opens doors. A passion for fitness changed EVERYTHING for me. And, now I live my life asking God to unsettle me….for this is not our practice life.
