I wanted to talk today about sacrifices.
We make sacrifices every day. Whether it’s for our kids, for our marriages, for our jobs. There’s probably not a day that goes by where you don’t give up something for someone else….whether it’s sleep ‘cuz your kids are sick or being “right” in an argument with your spouse or setting aside what you’re doing at work to do something that just came to your desk and needs immediate attention. All these things are just kinda second-nature sacrifices.
And, then you have more of the intentional sacrifices that you have make if you have big goals and dreams. The ones that maybe seem a little harder and more uncomfortable and that which don’t feel like second-nature.
I personally am in a season of those intentional sacrifices.
Now, I don’t share this to seem boastful and say look at me and what I’M doing….as if I need a pat on the back. And, of course I can’t control IF you DO think that but just know that my posts and what I share are never about me being boastful. It’s simply about my story and the choices I’m making….whether you think they’re right or wrong is again beyond my control…but that are often on my heart to share.
Our Top Coach shared something last week that really hit me. (You can listen to it, too, with the link below!)
Since I became a coach more than 2 years ago, I often got caught up in feeling a little sorry for myself in all the things I was sacrificing. I quickly learned that for my goals, I needed to sacrifice a lot of tv watching and going out and things that I was used to being able to do. What I love about coaching is that you make it fit YOUR life and YOUR goals. A lot of coaches can do this in a half hour or an hour a day and achieve the goals they set, both financially and physically. My goals are bigger. My goal is to be financially FREE ~ to live my life by my design!….and to be #prettyfit (a movement started by two amazing mentors I have who are also coaches! I’ll talk more about that later!). So, with larger goals, the sacrifices become greater.
Even though I’ve been making sacrifices all along, I had an ah-ha moment listening to Melanie. I haven’t been sacrificing enough for what I REALLY say I’m wanting.
I haven’t been REALLY living by 10X rules! (Ah-mazing book for entrepreneurs btw! Go grab it if you’re looking to be PUSHED!)
I haven’t been eating from the top of the lists in my nutrition guide! (There are food lists in the nutrition guide of the program I’m doing and the BEST options are listed at the top.) I will still get good results….but I’m not working for “good”, “mediocre” or “average” results….I’m working…or at least I’ve been SAYING I’m working for KILLER….AH-MAZING results!
I haven’t been 100% focused on what I’m doing IN THE MOMENT. I still….out of habit….all too often try to start multi-tasking. Our brains were not wired to multitask.
I haven’t budgeted my money and my time with certain trainings I’ve been doing and things that I thought I NEEDED to do or have.
So, while I’ve already been sacrificing sleep to make sure I get my workouts and some of my coaching time in so that it doesn’t affect my family’s schedule and while I’ve already been sacrificing my tv and NETFLIX addiction and while I’ve already been sacrificing my LOVE OF BEER and WINE and hanging out with friends and while I’ve already been sacrificing those jeans I want like NOW, I realized last week, it’s still not quite ENOUGH. I’ve been kinda telling myself it was enough. I was uncomfortable ENOUGH.
Well, guess what….I don’t want to be uncomfortable ENOUGH. I want to be uncomfortable UNTIL and by 10X standards! It’s going to take me even more sacrifice and more effort and action than I had been thinking and doing to reach my income and fit goals!
Two of the most common things I hear from people who reach out to me or who I’ve connected with in regards to restarting their health & fitness journeys or to try something new are TIME and INVESTMENT. My answer of late is to challenge them to think about this. Is what you are doing NOW working for you? If the answer is yes, then what I do and what I recommend may not be the right fit for you. But, if what are you doing isn’t working….maybe just maybe what I offer is a solution!? And, maybe when you find the right solution, you will MAKE the time and the investment into yourself because you believe in it and you believe in taking a chance on something. BUT, with any possible solution, plan to make sacrifices while you try to implement that solution. Whether it be skipping that daily Starbucks in place of a daily dose of Shakeology to help improve your nutrition….whether it be getting up a half hour early to get that 21 Day Fix workout in and set the tone for the day…..whether it be saying no to lunch out with coworkers to save $ and achieve your #prettyfit goals…..whether it be saying no to the hour of tv at night a few times a week so that you can read something for personal development so you can truly start overcoming that which holds you back! TRUST me that you CAN do it and you may just find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
I had to decide that what I’m doing right NOW isn’t enough. It’s good. It’s maybe even really good. But, it’s not quite ENOUGH.
So, here I go again! As Dave Ramsey would say, “Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else.” The only things I won’t sacrifice are my FAMILY, my HEART and my DIGNITY.
“Don’t just check off the boxes today!!
Get your heart in it!
Go over and above!
Take massive action & be intentional about your goals!”
